Wedding Trends…Will They Last?

Wedding Trends – Will They Last?

We have seen many wedding themes and trends come and stay for the last couple of years; rustic country with burlap accents, bold colors, romantic pastels, and modern metallics. Pinterest, The Knot, and wedding blogs help perpetuate these trends but also wear them out.

It seems that the rustic country theme with burlap is making way for a more refined French country while bold colors and metallics are sticking around.  Classic, romantic pastels are timeless and will never go out of style. Some couples have started to move away from trendy themes and make their wedding uniquely their own. Others have chosen to use a current theme or trend and add personal touches

Most of my couples have a theme or style in mind from something they saw on Social Media, usually Pinterest. I recently planned a wedding with a Modern Metallic theme. I personalized this wedding by using pewter and lilac gray as the primary colors and kept the details simple, clean, and modern. Clear Chiavari chairs paired with white and silver Dupioni silk linens were accented by beautiful white florals and greenery. Bistro lights and candles warmed up the cool tones to give a romantic feel. This wedding was on trend but personal touches were added. The groom surprised his bride by showcasing her photography talent.

I love a country wedding but I am ready to retire burlap, lace, and whiskey barrels as well as Ombre themed everything. Let’s dress up the naked cake by adding a bit more frosting and flowers. Photo booths are still fun but let’s move away from forced photography and let your photographer have some artistic freedom. I am loving more relaxed florals, free-flowing bridesmaids dresses and unique invitations. Pantone’s 2018 Color of the Year, Ultra Violet (18-3838) is gorgeous and can be used in florals and linens to freshen up bold colors and metallic.

Let’s make 2018 a year of stunning weddings!
